As of July 30, 2010, Procter & Gamble Co., maker of Iams and Eukanuba dry dog foods, is recalling certain varieties of veterinary and some specialized dry pet foods as a precautionary measure because the food might be contaminated with salmonella. The manufacturer said no salmonella-related illnesses have been reported, but it is urging consumers to immediately discard the recalled products. People handling dry pet food can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with surfaces exposed to this product, according to Procter & Gamble.
For more information or a product refund, call Procter & Gamble at 877-340-8823.
